As AOL purchased The Huffington Post for $315 million dollars let us acknowledge the sheer genius of Ariana Huffington. In a time where news organizations across the world are losing money, Huffington (along with Rupert Murdoch) was one of the few that actually saw a continual profit. Her left-leaning blog, The Huffington Post has 25 million unique visitors per month. What Huffington accomplished in less than 6 years should be admired and studied by anyone who wishes to create an online news site in the future.
Will AOL’s acquisition of a prominent left-leaning website hurt its reputation or even cause the company to lose money? Even in a politically polarized climate this will probably help AOL as acquiring 25 million visitors can’t be a bad thing.
